Founded in 2006, ABCD Technology Sarl is a Swiss Spin-off from EPFL providing disruptive equipment for deposition of complex 3D-shaped multi-element thin films.
With our 3D-printing additive method to achieve multifunctional high quality thin films, we are enabling solutions in the “More than Moore” vision.
We provide our customers with tools to develop disruptive materials and foster their future devices with unmatched properties towards new functionalities, miniaturization and integration.
Our SYBILLA series tools are based on Chemical Beam Epitaxy (CBE), combining a very flexible technique for R&D with a robust methodology for production.
Mature and emerging markets such as, but not limited to, microelectronics, photonics, optronics, renewable energy, catalysis, bio-compatible coatings, or decorative coatings are addressable with our solution.
Our tools are particularly well-optimized to address multi-element oxides, highly eco-sustainable materials, that display a plethora of different functional properties, but III-V semiconductors can also be deposited as well.
ABCD is part of a network of companies with complementary skills to provide a complete and optimized solution to the highly challenging thin film field.
Our equipment solution merges, among others, know how and skills in vacuum, thin films, chemistry, optics, laser and particle beams, material science, and nanotechnologies.
To correctly address this complexity, the strategy of ABCD Technology has been to grow a strong network of partners to pursue parallel development of complementary specific expertise and know how. These competencies and expertise are distributed in several inter-connected, but independent companies, each one strongly focused on its core competences and business strategy.
This strong network of highly specialized interacting skills and competencies means ABCD’s disruptive solution represents a tremendous opportunity for the most demanding thin film developers.
History
Incorporation of ABCD Technology Sarl to develop CBE equipment and a global technology platform. ABCD is mostly focused on developing the effusive sources to optimize gas flows and improve synergies between the advantages provided by high vacuum, chemical precursors, and assisted beams for direct patterning of the thin film in one step during the growth.
Incorporation of Socrate Industrie based nearby Morteau (France). The company provides equipment manufacturing with a wide palette of competences and skills in the field of customized prototypes and industrial equipment manufacturing. It acts on behalf of ABCD Technology as a subcontractor for the manufacture of Sybilla equipment and also provides maintenance support to customers.
